Gas Maintenance Team - Winner!
Birmingham City Council
Birmingham City Council's gas maintenance team has carried out gas safety checks in every one of its 59,000 homes for three years running, thanks to the team's exceptional dedication.
Gas inspectors, access clerks and admin staff work with the city's gas partners to understand the barriers to accessing some homes, such as mobility or language problems. By addressing these issues, the team is able to deliver a first-rate service and build relationships with tenants.
The team works tirelessly all year round, even maintaining excellent service levels this winter - the coldest for 10 years. Many also took calls in their own time to keep customers safe and warm.
The team's work has been recognised by Birmingham Audit and CORGI (now the Gas Safety Register), who rated the service excellent. They have also attracted local praise, with outstanding feedback from tenant groups and customer satisfaction levels at a record 98 per cent.
