Debbie Griffiths
Training and Development Officer, Hull City Council
Debbie has transformed the delivery of training for foster carers at Hull City Council. Hull's foster carers are now widely engaged and active in their training and the development of their skills is being reaped by young people and children their care. Historically, it has been difficult to encourage and motivate busy foster carers to become active in their learning and training. Not only has she compiled a programme of relevant and interesting training, she has found new ways to deliver this training. For some, this is evenings, for others weekends and others in their own home. Every learning style is considered, even if this means committing her own time. Her creativity and infectious enthusiasm is inspiring. She has taken the time to get to know each carer and has provided support and encouragement to both carers and the wider fostering team.
