Lucy Rees
Green Living Officer, Islington Council
Lucy Rees has been at the forefront of Islington Council's National Energy Awareness Award-winning Energy Doctor scheme, helping over 1,000 vulnerable residents reduce both energy use in their homes and their carbon footprint.
By giving helpful advice and support on energy management, Lucy has delivered an average saving of £109 and one tonne of carbon per property per year.
Although the scheme is available to all residents, Lucy's personal touch has been particularly appreciated by those on low incomes. For example one resident fed back to us that Lucy's intervention had changed her life by giving her disabled child a warm and secure home.
Overall, Lucy's work has not just helped deliver vital sustainability targets, she has provided residents with a friendly, more personal experience of council services, and made a real difference to the well-being of some of the most vulnerable sections of our community.
